Urtica dioica

A leaf with a herbal, green taste, mild and not very bitter.

Aroma and flavor

Once dried, the leaf no longer stings like the fresh plant. Its flavor is herbal, green and mild, with a background reminiscent of leafy greens.

How to use it in mate

Mix a small amount with the yerba. Keep in mind the limit set by the Argentine Food Code (below).

Goes well with

Mint, lemon verbena or lemon balm, which add aroma.

The Argentine Food Code requires infusions containing nettle to state on the label a maximum recommended intake equivalent to 5 g per day, and in composite yerba mate moringa and nettle together may not exceed 5% of the total.
